How to restore Chrome Download bar (switch back from Download button)

Google brought in a new change for Chrome as detailed in its support article, switching from Download bar at the bottom of the browser to a new "Download Tray" button on the right from the address bar. This entirely changes the experience for users, as Downloads on Chrome were "not easily accessible" if one closes the bar at the bottom (if pressing Ctrl+J was not easy, that is).

Google had three reasons it gathered from user insights that affected this change:

- Some users were annoyed how Download bar takes up display space and only features a limited number of downloads seen
- It did not go away automatically and only has limited features and lastly
- It does not adhere to Chrome's modern look

If you would like to restore the old Download bar at the bottom of your Chrome browser, here are the easy steps:

1. In your Chrome address bar open chrome://flags/#download-bubble

2. Locate "Enable download bubble" option

3. Click the dropdown and change it to "Disabled"

Enjoy your old ways until Google decide to remove the flag from Chrome browser!

Network Computers not showing up in Network File Browser on Windows 10/11

To resolve this problem, check whether the following services are running and that they are in the Automatic Startup state to correctly display your network environment. Run the services.msc console and check the state of following services:

  • DNS Client (Dnscache)
  • Function Discovery Provider Host (FdPHost) - responsible for discovering other computers on the network
  • Function Discovery Resource Publication (FDResPub) - allows other computers to discover your device on the network
  • SSDP Discovery (SSDPSrv)
  • UPnP Device Host (Upnphost)

Fix the adware popups in browser (trk.dsllgal.com)

This issue seems to be caused by Skype version 7.x.x.

I don't know if this will solve the problem (or on the later versions) but now I don't see any ads at all. I'm not sure but I think this also blocks Skype updates. If this doesn't work, feel free to remove the blocked sites.
  1. Go to Control Panel and open Internet Properties (or you can search for it using the search feature)
  2. When in Internet Properties, click on the Security tab
  3. Under the Security Tab, click "Restricted Sites" and click the Sites button under that
  4. Add the following domains: apps.skype.com and g.msn.com, click close
  5. Restart Skype
